The conference explores the role of Christ's Passion
in the Spiritual Exercises and within the context of our world today. The major presentations consider: (1) Ignatius'
own experience of the passion, stemming from his vision at LaStorta, when he was told by the Father that he would be placed
with the Son as he bears his cross; the passion in the Third Week of the Exercises; and how the Eucharist is key to understanding
the mystery of the Cross; (2) In the 21st Century, how do we encounter the cross? What happens to us when we are asked to
serve under the standard of the cross? (3) In our daily lives, how do we take up and embrace Christ's passion? What formation
and foundation do we need in order to do this?
In addition
to the three major presentations, there are a variety of workshops. Some of these bear directly on the conference theme, but
others cover topics and issues explored in past conferences e.g. current applications and adaptations of Ignatian spirituality,
special topics; and Ignatian spirituality centers, programs, and associations.
